Burton's Garden of Schools Statement of Faith: We Believe: The Bible contains examples of the personality of God, the history of His relationship with His people, the law of God and the fulfillment of that law in the recorded life and teachings of Jesus, the Christ. We hold these teachings above any other creed, teaching or recordings, and denounce any contradicting material or additional testaments claiming to be at the same level or authority as the words of Christ. God is to be held above all other gods. He alone is worthy of our praise and worship. Jesus is the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary. He led a sinless life as the perfect and blameless example performing miracles, and died as the perfect sacrifice for all humankind's sin. He rose from the grave and ascended into heaven to the right hand of the Father, God. He will return in all power and glory. The Holy Spirit is the gift left to us by Christ. The Holy Spirit enables us to be more like Christ in our daily walk, enabling us to approach the throne of God and say, "Abba Father!" Saved is a state of redemption that is known to God and Him alone. Burton's Garden of Schools believes that it is the parent's responsibility to provide religious instruction to their children. The faculty and staff are to support the parent's teachings of God and Christ according to the teaching of the Bible, and not to proselytize their own beliefs and interpretations of Scripture. The church is a unity of believers, the active body of Christ who lives through us individually and collectively. The church is not a building or merely a gathering of like minded members, but many who are one in action through the inward knowledge of God's will for His own. The faculty and staff of Burton's Garden of Schools represent many mainline denominations. While we may not agree on all issues, we do agree that God is God, and Jesus the Christ is our saviour. |
