As Parents we sometimes tend to think of our children as an extension of ourselves and as Homeschooling parents we often feel like our children..." are with me all the time and I teach them all I can....so they must know what I know." This is good when it comes to exposure to drugs, violence, or lifestyles we would rather they learn about in a more sheltered way. This can be a real eye opener when you ask your homeschooler to perform in a way you were sure they would do well in only to find that they have no idea how to even begin. Testing is important, not as much for the student, but for the parent or teacher. Asking your kids to perform to a list of age appropriate tasks isn't about assigning them some sort of grade or rank in order to compare them to their peers, it should simply tell you where you need to teach a new set of skills or re-teach a concept another way. | About to give
