Transfer Students

Transferring to Burton's Garden of Schools

NOTICE: Transcripts will only be forwarded to other institutions for students who have attended a minimum of one full quarter, are in good standing with the accounting department, and have completed a minimum of 180 lessons.

Students over the age of 15 who have not used DBE curriculum will find it difficult to meet graduation requirements before they are 18. Course work that is not DBE is not transferable. You may test out of course work and present portfolio requirements to meet course requirements, but Burton's Garden of Schools does not accept credit transfers in place of DBE required courses. You are encouraged to speak with an admissions counselor for a more detailed evaluation of your particular needs at no cost. You may also choose to complete placement testing (usually requires 6-12 weeks) and portfolio evaluation for a personalized graduation plan and expected graduation date. The cost is the same as attending for one quarter and requires that you enroll as a student with the intent to transfer at the end of the quarter if you find you are unable to complete your recommended plan.

Homeschooled students who have used DBE curriculum may need to contact an admissions counselor about the transfer process and placement exams. Your records are designed to download into our files and you will receive credit for all of your DBE course work. While your graduation plan and date is still dependant on your placement testing, it is possible to do all but your final three quarters before graduation thru DBE homeschool. Welcome to your Burton's Garden of Schools senior experience!

For Students 12-14 transferring to Burton's Garden of Schools is as simple as going through the application and acceptance procedures and enrolling. All your previous transcripts will be placed in your file should you need them. If you have been homeschooled and have no transcripts, a basic form, entrance exams and  placement testing will be all that you need. DBE homeschooling  credits will be submitted during your testing and your placement will reflect your previous work and credits. ALL Burton's Garden of Schools courses (after your entrance and placement work usually first one to three quarters) are high school level and credited toward graduation.

Students under 12 attend Burton's Garden of Schools Greenhouse program. Transferring records is handled the same way. However, none of your course work applies to high school credit or graduation as with any grade schools class work.

Transferring from Burton's Garden of Schools

Records and transcripts are drawn up and finalized when we receive your exit form. During the 30 day notice period we will work with you to ensure you have all of your courses narrowed to complete a custom list of tasks that meet the requirements of course material to give you credit for individual traditional classes. Your exit review will help you to move back in to traditional coursework and classroom settings. You and or your new school need only to request your records through the site and they will be provided.

Should you leave abruptly and not make use of the exit review, those in good standing with accounting,  will have their records sent to the addresses on the forms with partial credit for uncompleted tasks and courses.
