     Since 1999 Burton's Garden of Schools has offered students options that until recently have not been available. Many distance learning programs have a recognizable name and standardized curriculum that has been adapted for internet use. My interest and education in sociology steered me to a very different way to address my own needs as a homeschooling parent. Ultimately, I choose to share these solutions and resources with others creating Burton's Garden of Schools.

     Does your family need Burton's Garden of Schools? Is distance learning right for you? It became clear to us that while we could strive to give families variety, support and expertise in every avenue that we could not, should not and would not, try to be everything for everyone. Unfortunately, we learned from experience, that we would be doing a grave disservice to everyone involved if we threw open our doors and marketed our services to everyone. Distance learning is not right for all students. Alternative education is a broad arena that Burton's Garden of Schools is a part of. We have developed other services to support those who found distance learning not quite what they needed and narrowed Burton's Garden of Schools enrollment to those who will excel in the distance learning environment.
